Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, inspect, and repair industrial plumbing and piping systems.
  • Troubleshoot water supply, drainage, sewer, hot-water, steam, compressed-air, and process-water systems.
  • Repair and replace pipes, valves, pumps, fixtures, backflow-prevention devices, and related equipment.
  • Respond promptly to leaks, blockages, equipment failures, and other urgent maintenance issues.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance according to established schedules.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, piping diagrams, and equipment manuals.
  • Support plant renovation, equipment installation, and continuous-improvement projects.
  • Complete work orders and accurately document inspections, repairs, parts, and maintenance activities.
  • Work safely around production equipment, chemicals, wet environments, and confined spaces.
  • Follow all GMP, HACCP, food-safety, sanitation, lockout/tagout, and company safety requirements.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production, sanitation, contractors, and other trades.
  • Maintain tools, parts, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Participate in the plant’s after-hours or emergency call-out rotation when required.
  • Perform other maintenance duties within the scope of the position.

Qualifications

  • Valid Journeyperson Plumber certification; Red Seal endorsement is strongly preferred.
  • Previous industrial plumbing experience is required; food-processing or meat-production experience is an asset.
  • Experience working with stainless-steel piping, process-water, steam, drainage, and compressed-air systems is preferred.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.

Physical and Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Comfortable working in refrigerated, warm, wet, noisy, and physically demanding environments.
  • Ability to work around raw meat products, food-processing equipment, and sanitation chemicals.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, overtime, and emergency call-outs when required.
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment and follow strict hygiene and sanitation procedures. #INDbluecollar
