SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTIONS
The electrician will be responsible for the set up, repair, safety and efficiency of all production equipment within a food processing plant. Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. Read blueprints and other drawings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance on production and packaging equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime
- Service, adjust, and test machines, devices, and moving parts
- Install, align, dismantle, and relocate stationary industrial machinery such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces, and generators
- Work with automated equipment including PLCs, robotics, motors, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and refrigeration systems
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and layout plans
- Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives
- Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, CFIA, and health & safety requirements
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to maintain efficient operations
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must hold a valid 442A Industrial Electrician license in Ontario, Canada
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (food industry preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, automation, and controls
- Knowledge of motors, conveyors, and packaging equipment
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Strong commitment to safety and food quality standards
- Ability to work in refrigerated and fast-paced production environments
